Player Analysis: Top-scorer Mandy Islacker - FFC Frankfurt

At the end of the major European Championships, we created a top-scorer ranking taking into account the goals scored in relation to their incidence on their team. We extrapolate the top players for each nation by placing the results according to the Uefa Ranking of the major European Women's Championships:

Approaching the Europeans 2017 we start by analyzing the Super standingds of European players against whom our national team will face in the elimination round: Islacker for Germany and Blackstenius for Sweden (in the next analysis).
FFC Frankfurt's Mandy Islacker is the winner of the Bundesliga 2016/17 top-scorer standings with 19 goals scored in 22 games played. Transferring to FFC Frankfurt in 2014, after playing in Bayern Munich (2007-2010) and Duisburg (2010-2013), she began to express the best of herself in the last year in Duisburg with 15 goals in 21 games played. Thanks to her 109 goals scored in her career, she has won the 9th place in the Bundesliga all-time scorer-standings alongside the biggest German players. In October 2015 she also started in the National Major, where she played 15 games scoring 5 goals.

Equipped with good technical and ballistic skills both with the foot and the head, she is a constant danger to the opponents when playing with their club team (FFC Frankfurt) and also with the German national team.

Mandy Islacker is a pure striker of penalty area who occupies the central area of the attack, trying to find space between the opposing defense with preventive unkarking when her team retrieves possession. She is the main farward of the team, she stays always high, with little interest in the defensive phase and ready to attack the area centrally on cross. If the action develops centrally, she sometimes leaves the penalty area to look for triangles or chains in the finishing zone, trying to overcome the defensive line. Alternatively, when the development of the action reaches the area by other players, Islacker's preference is to move towards the second pole ready for a net retraction in the event of a goalkeeper's rejection.

In certain gambling situations, she moves on the left front of the attack to support the development on that band and go herself to the cross for the companions who have been centrally placed in the penalty area.

In summary, Mandy Islacker is a very dangerous player in the penalty area, who knows how to read the enemy defensive arrangement and find the right spaces and times to receive the companions passes.
She can often anticipate her own marking, getting unmaked at reception and ready to finalize. Skillful in shooting and headshot is definitely an opponent to be closely watched by trying to limit shifts and clearances. Her skills enabled FFC Frankfurt to reach 5th position in the Bundesliga and confirmed the national call for Europeans who will start shortly in Holland.
